He has cemented his place in the United starting eleven with a series of impressive performances in recent weeks.

And Solskjaer sat the 22-year-old down last week to assure him he will not be leaving in the summer transfer window.

It is understood a number of Premier League clubs have already enquired about taking the youngster on loan.

But an Old Trafford source said: “Ole and Scott have a really strong relationship already in such a short space of time.

“They often have chats about what is going wrong or right. They had a very long one at Carrington last week.

“Ole told him how impressed he had been with him lately and to assure him he is in his plans for next year.

“There was talk of a loan move away but that is not going to happen at this stage. He is here to stay for now.”

McTominay has made 27 Premier League appearances for United and scored one goal since his debut in 2017.
