Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Instagram is only 500K followers behind Kate Middleton and Prince William’s after Archie Harrison’s christening pics

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry look set to dethrone Kate Middleton and Prince William as Instagram’s most popular royal couple after posting adorable photos of baby Archie this weekend.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex currently only have 500,000 followers less than Kate and William – despite only launching their official @sussexroyal Instagram account just three months ago.

Over the weekend, Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, shared two touching images of their son Archie to celebrate his christening.

One black and white photograph shows the little boy cradled in the arms of mum Meghan as doting dad Harry puts his arm around the pair.

A second colour photo shows the new parents posing with the little boy’s grandparents Prince Charles and Camilla, along with Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland.

Unsurprisingly, the sweet photos racked up over 2.6m likes – making it their fourth most popular post to date – and tipped the @sussexroyal account over the 9 million follower mark.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge only have 500,000 more followers

The Kensington Palace Instagram account – which was shared between the Sussex and Cambridge households until earlier this year – has posted 1,841 photos since it was set up in January 2015 and follows 132 other accounts.

In contrast, Harry and Meghan’s Instagram has only 46 posts and follows a mere 15 other pages.

What’s more, the @sussexroyal account broke the world record for the fastest time for an account to reach one million followers when it was created in April.

Six hours after the couple launched their new Instagram account, they had already hit the one million mark – and shot up to 2.2 million the following morning.

🍃 The Duchess of Cambridge hosted a picnic for her patronages in the Back to Nature Garden at #RHSHampton — where she was joined by children from @afnccf, Evelina Children’s Hospital, @actionforchildrenuk and @_place2be to explore the garden and experience the positive effects of spending time outside. The Duchess of Cambridge’s RHS Back to Nature Garden has transferred to @The_RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival — the design has the same wild and natural feel but has been developed in order to create further opportunities for children and families to interact with nature. The design for this garden has once again been created through a collaboration between Her Royal Highness, landscape architects @davies_white and the RHS. As part of her longstanding work on Early Years, The Duchess believes that spending time outdoors plays a pivotal role in children’s future health and happiness. Her garden highlights how time spent in natural environments can help build the foundations for positive physical and mental wellbeing that last through childhood and over a lifetime. Features like the hollow log and rustic dens 🏕 have returned from Chelsea, in addition to a new hidden cave, treehouse 🌳, camo netting, rolling hill ⛰ and stream 💧. These environments enable children to develop skills for life through free play, building their confidence, strength, resilience and social skills. In addition to the physical and mental health benefits of being in nature, spending quality time with parents and carers outside has a valuable impact on children’s early development. In the garden, families can explore together and enjoy nature as a playground. There is a pond to paddle in, a bug hotel 🐞 that provides habitats for all sorts of wildlife, as well as a bee-friendly 🐝 wildflower meadow that covers the hill in meadow buttercup, ox-eye daisy, red clover and common spotted orchid.

Last month, it was revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had “hired a social media expert to boost their popularity” in a bid to overtake Kate and William’s social media following.

A source told the Mail Online: “Meghan and Harry have appointed a new member of staff to work on their social media accounts – starting in time for Meghan’s return from maternity leave.”

Additionally, a brand expert told Fabulous Digital that Meghan had wanted to “take control” of her image with a “highly-stylised” new Instagram account.

Since the account was set up three months ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have used the platform to raise awareness for mental health charities as well as releasing sweet images of baby Archie on both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

In more Royal Family news, Kate Middleton dressed up as a “sexy nurse” before Prince William “pleaded to give him another chance”, a royal author has claimed.

And Meghan Markle wants to adopt a rescue dog for Archie so he can grow up with a loyal pet.

Plus “controlling” Meghan Markle “is auditioning nannies but refusing to hand over care of Archie”.
