Meghan Markle is being chauffeured around New York City in a State Department SUV and has U.S. special agents for protection due to her diplomatic status.
The Duchess of Sussex has been flanked by security ever since she arrived in New York on Friday for a five-day whirlwind trip that includes a swanky baby shower being thrown by her celebrity friends.
The 37-year-old former actress, who is seven months pregnant with Prince Harry‘s baby, has been photographed in public several times since she arrived.
Each time she has stepped out, Meghan has been surrounded by multiple security personnel who have ushered her from five-star hotels and restaurants into a waiting black SUV with State Department licence plates.

Meghan has been spotted with at least two British plain-clothed officers from the Royalty and Specialist Protection Command of the Metropolitan Police.
But given she is a member of the royal family, the Duchess has also been assigned protection from the U.S. State Department and NYPD because she is considered a diplomat.
No less than three special agents, including one female, from the Dignitary Protective Division of the State Department have been tailing Meghan in New York whenever she steps out in the public eye.
They worked tirelessly on Tuesday as Meghan made the most of her time in the Big Apple.
It is her first visit to NYC since she married Prince Harry in May last year.
Several agents followed closely as Meghan cradled her bump while leaving The Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side on Tuesday afternoon with her close friend and former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.

Meghan and Abigail got into the same government-issued SUV and traveled just a few blocks to briefly visit the Met Breuer.
The duo were then driven to the swanky Upper East Side hotel, The Surrey, for lunch before returning in the SUV to The Mark.
Hours later, Meghan was pictured heading out to Ralph Lauren’s swanky restaurant The Polo Bar for dinner with her friend Serena Williams and Jessica Mulroney.
Her security detail ushered her in and out of the restaurant amid the flashing cameras and frenzy.
Meghan is due to return to London later on Wednesday following her lavish baby shower.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson would not reveal details of Meghan’s trip but confirmed it was ‘privately funded’.
Her baby shower is reportedly being thrown by Amal Clooney and Serena Williams in the $75,000-a-night penthouse suite at The Mark Hotel.
It is not known if Meghan has been staying in the lavish penthouse since she arrived.
