‘I knew I had it before I got my PCR test back. I was demonstrating all of the main symptoms and it was unlike anything I’d ever experienced: extremely high temperature; serious shortness of breath; sore bones; a rash all over my body; an awful sore throat and cough; a beating headache and a total loss of smell and taste!’

Baroness Mone who stayed at her estate with her billionaire husband Doug Barrowman during her illness said: ‘It’s very scary to see all this happen to your body at once.

‘It’s a really nasty illness and I was grateful to be at home with my husband (and the three wee dogs, of course!) who all looked after me amazingly.’

She added: ‘My respect for the NHS and the amazing staff has grown tenfold after this experience.

‘For them to have to fight this every day is hard to imagine and they do such an exceptional job protecting our vulnerable – thank you!

‘Please stay safe and be careful when you leave the house. We are all making a collective effort to fight this virus, and we must continue to the end!’

Baroness Mone had previously been branded ‘out of touch’ for posting ‘distasteful’ pictures of her sunning herself at a five-star Maldives resort in December – as much of the UK remained in Tier 3.

The millionaire Ultimo founder and Baroness married billionaire Barrowman, 53, on November 28 in a ‘magical’ ceremony on the Isle of Man, before jetting off on her honeymoon to One&Only Reethi Rah resort in Malé.

But while many fans rushed to congratulate the newlyweds, others branded the pictures ‘self-centred’, urging Baroness Mone to ‘open your eyes to how the rest of us are forced to live’.

She was accused of ‘rubbing her trip in the faces of all single mothers just before Christmas’, while one posted a link to the Hall and Oates song ‘Out of Touch’.

After The House of Lords peer was approached for comment, the negative remarks appeared to vanish from her LinkedIn account, with only the positive comments remaining.

A spokesperson for Baroness Mone pointed out that she had cancelled three wedding dates already and shared the images as her followers were ‘excited to see them’.
