Ministry of Defence worker was blinded by a foam pellet fired from Nerf gun

A MINISTRY of Defence worker was blinded by a foam pellet fired from a child’s Nerf gun by a colleague.

The victim — who lost sight in one eye — was “ambushed” in fun while at a desk.

An official report said the injury was sustained during “office horseplay” at the MoD base.

It was among bizarre injuries to civilian MoD staff and military personnel.

An office worker suffered a burst eardrum after being asked to set off their personal alarm during an interview.

A recruit rushing to iron her uniform for a parade tripped and fell — breaking a finger.

An air cadet suffered hypothermia at a London Remembrance Day Parade in cold weather.

And an RAF recruit accidentally trod on a water bottle during training and broke an ankle. The accidents were revealed in a Freedom of Information request.

The Health and Safety Executive did not reveal accident locations or victim’s details. The MoD said: “We work to develop and improve health and safety.”
