M&S Christmas advert launches with Paddy McGuinness and Emma Willis

TV presenters Paddy McGuinness and Emma Willis are among the celebrities starring in this year’s M&S Food advert alongside an award-winning choir from a Welsh primary school.

The festive TV ad sees the stars walk through a market full of delicious Christmas products while the choir of Ysgol Gynradd Llwyncelyn primary school, named the best in the UK won Songs of Praise in 2018, provides a soothing soundtrack.

They sing a special arrangement of Fleetwood Mac’s Albatross, the iconic tune used in M&S’s ‘This is not just any adverts’, following coaching from Justin and Dan Hawkins from rock band The Darkness.

The advert features some of the supermarket’s 170 new Christmas product lines, including Brie en Croute and Sticky Toffee Christmas Pudding.

Viewers are led through the market by Take Me Out’s Paddy McGuinness and Big Brother presenter Emma Willis as they sample the products alongside Britain’s Got Talent host Amanda Holden and singer Rochelle Humes.

Products enjoyed by the celebrity tasters include The Perfect Turkey and Torched Winter Berry Pavlova, with McGuiness commenting: ‘You can tell it’s good because all the kids are quiet’.

MailOnline provided an exclusive preview of the advert yesterday, and the full 90-second video launched early today. It has its TV debut at 11.25am during This Morning.

The advert will also be accompanied by eight shorter 30-second adverts focused on one particular product, including a Clementine Gin Liqueur Snow Globe.

‘These weren’t just any families… these were the families of the stars of the ad, the amazing Côr Ysgol Llwyncelyn choir!

‘The choir totally captured our hearts, their voices sprinkled a special kind of magic on our ad which this year focuses on our colleagues showing and telling customers about our fuss free, delicious and great value Christmas food.’

Gavin Ashcroft, leader of Côr Ysgol Llwyncelyn choir: ‘It was a joy to take part in the M&S Christmas Food advert. Before, during and after, the pupils were treated like superstars, including a coaching session from The Darkness!

‘It’s been amazing to welcome M&S into our school, and to choose us as the first people to see the advert has been a real treat for the children, parents and staff. Nadolig Llawen!’
