DEAR DEIDRE: FOR the past five years I’ve been in a long-distance relationship. My boyfriend lives in Wales while I’m in Kent. We usually see each other every month but Covid means it’s been just a couple of times in a year.
Our plan was for him to move in with me this year but now he says he doesn’t want to be a burden.

My team and I are working safely from home but we are here to help you as always.
He is 49 and has been pretty poorly this past year (not with coronavirus). He is worried he might not get a job and that I would end up paying all the bills.
I am a woman of 48 and he is the love of my life. But he’s so proud he just won’t discuss the move with me.

DEIDRE SAYS: You do really need to talk to him again and explain how you are feeling. If he still resists, there might be something else holding him back.
Is there potentially some hidden issue that is stopping him from committing to you and your relationship?
I am sending you my leaflet When Your Man Won’t Commit.
Hopefully reading that will help you get to the bottom of his reluctance.
