IF you can’t be bothered to pack a towel and a bikini on your summer hols – you no longer have to.
Say hello to the Towelkini – the two-in-one which combines a beach towel and swimwear.
It might sound like a good idea at first glance, but it’s not the most practical beachwear.
Resembling two towels stuck together, with holes for your head, arms, legs and bum (yep, you don’t have to remove it even to visit the loo) it’s a bit odd.
We’re all for saving space in the suitcase, but it pretty much eradicates tanning unless you want seriously dodgy tan lines and it’s also not ideal for sweltering summer temperatures.
The bizarre item of clothing was created by New York-based designer Aria McManus last year, who also posted an image of the garment on Instagram – to show “how you might look wearing it around town”.
“Melding the two essentials for all things beach no need to carry a cumbersome towel or an easy to lose swimsuit – here they come as one, materialized as ideal,” the product description reads.
“Keep the baes at bay – have all your haters throw the towel in when they lay eyes on you in this.
“Maximize your tan with upright capabilities, all members, off link. Selectively airy in the back for that all around effect, perfect for a lie down on the beach or a dip in the pool.
“Supple curves constructively cut from the finest grade of terry cloth.
“Put the OW in towel, make them beg, make them wish they were the sun of your beach. Follow suit, make this the one piece you get laid on the beach in.”
It’s available in two colours – hot pink and athletic gold.
Priced at £156, it certainly doesn’t come cheap, but many fashion fans on Instagram can’t get enough of the quirky style.
Several called it “amazing” while another wrote: “This is so so good”.
One even tagged a pal and asked if they could get matching Towelkinis for the beach, to which the friend responded: “Why just the beach?”
We reckon it would be perfect post-swim – especially on the beach to avoid stuck-on sand, or lounging by the pool in the shade.
In fact, it could probably work well after a bath at home. Would you wear it?
