Nuthatches bird interrupts an airsoft game in Sussex and sits top of a camouflaged shooter’s gun

A sweet pair of baby birds have interrupted what was supposed to be an adrenaline pumping game of airsoft.

The players, dressed in a camouflage ghillie suit, stopped their game after two young nuthatches landed on one of them at the Driver Wood Airsoft, Sussex, in England.

The short clip, captured by the player’s friend, shows him giving a thumbs up as the little creature sits on the weapon’s gun sight.

He then gently lifts the bird away from the firearm using his hand and it continues to tweet.

Meanwhile the other bird sits on top of the player’s head.

The second bird appears to be comfortable among the leaves and shrubbery of his handmade costume.

Speaking of the his unforgettable encounter with the creatures he said: ‘[The birds] settled upon me and stayed with me for nearly an hour.’

‘They seemed perfectly at home on me, even letting my friend Rob Szewciw (in his similar ghillie suit) come right up close enough for him to film them on me.’

The player said the birds eventually decided to fly away back to their family.

‘It was amazing to witness them at such close proximity and in such a relaxed way.’

Nuthatches are resident creatures meaning they rarely travel far from the woods they were hatched. They can be found throughout England, Wales and southern Scotland according to the RSPB
