The apparent gig had been scheduled for December 31, 2020 and claimed to be taking place at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Victoria.

But fans hoping to snap up a ticket for the mystery gig have been left disappointed, as the website now just shows an ‘error’ page.

One 1D fan tweeted: “I’m??so???confused??

“I went onto ticketmaster (through a link for some reason it’s not on when you go on the website) and went onto the ‘Eithad Stadium’ if you scroll down to dec 31 it says there is a one direction tour: on the road again 2020???

“Is this like someone joking or…”

Another asked the band’s official Twitter account: “@onedirection is the concert date for Melbourne in 2020 fake?”

A third wrote: “This is literally giving me headache. I search ‘one direction tour’ on Ticketmaster and they show me ‘there’s no event’.”

News of the rumoured reunion show has come as One Direction fans celebrate eight years of the pop group.

The original lineup – Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik – were first put together as a band on The X Factor on July 23, 2010.

As a result, fans are hoping the mystery Ticketmaster AU listing means they WILL be reuniting for their 10th anniversary.

In May, Liam confirmed that the band would be getting back together one day, although he was vague about exactly when.

Speaking to German magazine Promiflash, he said: “I think it will happen at some point in the distant future. We’ve all spoken about it.”

A Ticketmaster rep, however, told Daily Mail Australia that they were “unaware of the event” and could not offer any further information.
