‘Paedo’ swimming coach, 20, nabbed after pool safety camera captured him ‘abusing girl, 6’

A SWIMMING instructor has been charged with sexually touching a six-year-old girl during a lesson after a pool safety camera captured the moment he abused her, US reports have revealed.

Kyle Daniels, 20, has also been charged with raping the girl’s sister, 8, during a different lesson at the Mosman Swim Centre in Sydney, Australia.

Specialist child abuse detectives reportedly obtained CCTV from inside the centre and plan to use it as part of their evidence against Daniels.

The coach appeared in Manly Local Court yesterday over the offences, which allegedly took place on February 2 and 14.

His two alleged victims are understood to have complained to their parents about him before police were involved.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad then spent a month gathering evidence, which includes the CCTV.

They arrested Daniels at his family’s Balgowlah home on Tuesday and charged with two counts of intentionally sexually touching a child under the age of 10 and having sexual intercourse with a child under 10.

These young, brave kids put their hands up to mum and dad and said ‘something happened’.

A letter from Daniels’ employer, Mosman Ezyswim, said he had been suspended when the girls’ parents first reported the allegations.

It added that all employees had current working with children checks.

The letter said: “We are extremely distressed by this situation and will keep customers up to date when more information comes to hand.”

Daniels was refused bail and has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on May 8.

People who knew Daniels were shocked to hear the claims against him.

The owner of the cafe outside the swim school, Gerard, said he was friendly and from a good family.

He told the Mail: “Lovely boy, always polite. [The charges were] such a a surprise for everybody.

“He’s from a good family, I just hope they survive what they are going through.”

Detective Superintendent John Kerlatec said Daniels had been a casual instructor at the centre for two years.

He said investigators were relying on evidence and the statements from the two young victims.

He told reporters on Wednesday: “These young, brave kids put their hands up to mum and dad and said ‘something happened’.

“That is exceptionally brave.”
