PALOMA Faith has sparked a flirty friendship with actor Dominic Cooper , calling him “sexy” in a series of tongue-in-cheek messages.
The singer, who is starring in new Batman TV prequel Pennyworth, has bonded with the Preacher star over their shared love of acting.
And my source says she has sent Dominic — who is dating Gemma Chan — a series of cheeky messages in a bid to set up their next meeting.
My source said: “Paloma and Dominic move in similar circles and have a lot of mutual friends, so their paths cross quite often. As Paloma has now broken into acting, she has been very keen to ask Dominic’s advice, so she has been messaging him quite a lot about meeting up.
“He is obviously a real heartthrob and Paloma has a very cheeky sense of humour, so in her messages to him she often calls him ‘sexy’. But it’s all very light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek. He finds her hilarious.”
Paloma, who is married to French artist Leyman Lahcine, is understood to have first met Mamma Mia! star Dominic in 2015, when she wrote the track The Crazy Ones for his film Miss You Already, which also starred Toni Collette.
They are both fans of posh polo events and last year they attended newspaper owner Evgeny Lebedev’s lavish vodka and caviar-themed Christmas party along with Ellie Goulding .
The source added: “Paloma, who turned up arm in arm with Leyman, spent a lot of time with Dominic and the rest of his friends at the party.
“They were hanging out with Dominic’s ex Ruth Negga while Leyman caught up with other pals. Paloma was chatting to Dominic for ages, and at one stage was dancing with him.”
Paloma and Leyman began dating in 2013 and had their first child in December 2016 but have chosen not to make the baby’s sex or name public.
In November 2017 I told how they had wed in secret. In the same month Paloma’s album The Architect debuted at No1 here, pushing Taylor Swift’s Reputation off top spot. But her path to acting glory has been a bit tougher.
Replying to a fan who asked to see more of her acting post- Pennyworth, she wrote on Instagram last week: “I want to but I need directors to want me and right now they don’t!”
Maybe new pal Dominic can point her in the right direction.
Liz’s downer on Downton
My source said: “Everyone turned up excited about the film, and determined to make it the best that it could be. There was a real buzz among the cast. The only awkward note was hit when Elizabeth was heard commenting to a few fellow cast members that she felt elements of the script weren’t right.
“But she obviously saw the bigger picture, because she threw herself into filming. You would never have known she had doubts, because she gave it her all.”
The Downton film, which also stars series favourites Dame Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville and Laura Carmichael is due out in September. Teaser clips feature the phrase: “We’ve been expecting you.”
But one person who fans shouldn’t expect to see at the UK premiere is Joanne Froggatt, who plays lady’s maid Anna, as her spokeswoman said last night that she is filming in Australia and that it was “not confirmed” whether she will attend.
I’m sure there will be still enough servants to keep the champagne flowing.
Glee’s Matt dodges axe
THE Greatest Dancer’s Matthew Morrison might have impressive footwork, but I hear his moves on last year’s series left something to be desired.
My sources say BBC chiefs questioned the Glee star’s position as a Dance Captain on the panel alongside Cheryl Tweedy and Strictly’s Oti Mabuse after he failed to light up the stage. And the axe was briefly hovering before they decided to give him another chance.
One source said: “Matthew wasn’t the runaway hit on the panel that some people thought he would be, so a replacement was briefly considered.
“However, given the BBC’s viewer feedback about him was mostly positive, they decided to give him another chance to impress on this year’s show. And hopefully that is what he will do when it airs.”
While opting to keep on Matthew, TV chiefs decided to add some pizzazz to the panel by signing up flamboyant US singing star Todrick Hall. And they are now hoping the new line-up wins over audiences.
Predictably, a BBC spokesman last night insisted Matthew’s position was never in doubt. But if he does inject a bit more Glee into his appearances this year, I’m sure it won’t go amiss.
A stormy Weeknd
SINCE I revealed last month that Bella Hadid and The Weeknd’s relationship was on its last legs, the pair have been plagued with split rumours. And although reps for The Weeknd – real name Abel Tesfaye – continue to deny they’ve gone their separate ways, things are not looking good.
The pair both turned up to Mark Ronson‘s Club Heartbreak gig in LA on Friday, but Bella was said to have started crying and left minutes after the singer arrived. And my sources say they saw the situation become even more awkward when The Weeknd bumped into Bella’s brother Anwar and his girlfriend Dua Lipa.
They said: “Anwar is obviously on Bella’s side in everything she does, and this situation is no exception, so when he saw Abel after Bella became upset he didn’t hold back.
“He basically spoke his mind about everything that has happened between them, and there were some real home truths. But Abel isn’t one for holding back either and really fought his corner.”
Sounds like Bella and sister Gigi are lucky to have their brother to back them up. And Dua, who started dating model Anwar last month, must also be happy with her choice.
The New Rules singer has looked loved up since the couple put on a very public display of affection at Hyde Park’s British Summer Time Festival. Let’s hope their romance doesn’t prove as rocky as Bella’s.
CELEBS Go Dating coach Anna Williamson says she was cringing when Lady Colin Campbell opened up to her about her sex life for the E4 show.
No offence to Lady C, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t want to go there either.
Love expert Anna told me this week: “It was like having your headmistress walk in, or your mum, and you’re about to grill them on their sex life. It was tricky.” The aristocrat later invited Anna to her 70th birthday party.
The latest series of the E4 show made headlines after Megan Barton-Hanson hooked up with Demi Sims. Anna said: “There’s ups and downs.”
She’s right. Minutes after writing the above sentence, the loved-up pair unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Don’t worry if you blinked and missed that one.
Kylie’s Strictly got star quality
THIS may be the nearest Kylie Minogue has come to letting stardom go to her head – posing with a glittering star shape positioned over her eye.
She certainly doesn’t lack star quality – as a listen to the brilliant songs on her No1 album Golden easily demonstrates.
And today the Aussie pop queen reveals she will perform a medley of some of her biggest hits on the Strictly Come Dancing launch show next month.
The opening will also see this year’s celebs, including David James, Cath Tyldesley and James Cracknell paired with dancers.
And hopefully it will be the start of something special.
They’ve GoT the love
NEWLYWEDS Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas show they’ve GoT the love – with a show of affection on a romantic stroll through New York’s Soho.
The couple wed in Las Vegas in May and went on to throw a four-day party for pals in the south of France, before enjoying a second, bigger, ceremony.
Following the bash, Sophie admitted: “I don’t know if I feel like a wife yet . . . I’m just kind of floating at the moment.”
Judging by these pictures, she definitely feels like a wife now.
Craig wants Bieber date
Now the bromance may go further as Craig told me this week he would love a collaboration with the Canadian star.
Craig, whose new single Do You Miss Me Much is out next week, said: “A collaboration would be wicked. I think we could write something and there’d be a nice story running behind it.”

Craig’s penthouse parties in Miami became the stuff of celeb legend. Known as TS5 nights, after his Tower Suite 5 address, they attracted showbiz pals including P Diddy. Now, in the same spirit, he is planning a TS5 takeover set at next weekend’s SW4 Festival in London.
He said: “Some of the best things I’ve ever done have come from these organic places.”
If I can’t party with Craig in Miami, his SW4 gig may be the next best thing.
