People have revealed the petty acts of revenge they’ve carried out to get one over one someone who annoys them.
The Mumsnet thread was kickstarted by a British woman who revealed she used to cut carrots into circles to irritate her snobbish mother-in-law who thought it was ‘common’.
She asked for other examples from her fellow Mumsnet users – and was not disappointed.

‘I went vegetarian for more than a year just to annoy my mother,’ one said.
Another wrote: ‘A few jobs back, my old boss was vile. If I had an excuse to go in his office, I would make a point of twisting the phone cord around so when he picked up the phone the cable was very short and he would have to speak to the person with his head close to the phone whilst he untangled it.’
A third wrote: ‘I have a snobby SIL who looks down on sandwiches which are cut in the middle instead of corner to corner. I always serve up sandwiches cut across the middle when she’s round.’
Others said their partners were often their main targets when they put together these schemes.
‘Oh I’ve pulled the pillow out from under drunk, snoring, exes head while he slept then pretended to be asleep. Next day when he was hungover, I hoovered the ceiling under the room he was in,’ one ex-girlfriend said.
While some partners admitted they did things to annoy their partner, one person revealed they had intentionally twisted the phone chord of their mean boss so they’d always have to untangle them
‘Bought a huge light shade so Ex would bump his head every time he visited,’ another said.
‘Oh and if Dear Husband isn’t pitching in enough with cooking I put decaf beans in the grinder, one said.
Another was indiscriminate with her targets, writing: ‘I have a tiny gadget the size of my thumb that beeps and chirps at random intervals. Its sole purpose is to annoy people.
‘The sound is short and irregular so the gadget is difficult to locate. When Hear Husband annoys me, I turn it on and hide it somewhere. Been doing it for ten years and he’s never found it.’
Some people said they reversed the treatments to their loved ones, while others did small things to annoy their coworkers
