Piers Morgan reveals he snubbed ‘vast sums of money’ to appear on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing

PIERS Morgan has revealed he turned down “vast sums of money” to go on Strictly Come Dancing.

He said he had received several approaches from bosses desperate to tempt him on to the dancefloor.

Piers could have been strutting his stuff in the Strictly ballroom-but he turned down the job

But Piers insisted he doesn’t even watch it — and would rather make a fool of himself behind closed doors with a bottle of whiskey.

The Good Morning Britain host, 53, said: “Dancing is not for me.

They’ve offered me vast sums of money to go and humiliate myself on national TV.

“But I prefer to do it with a bottle of Jack Daniel’s in the privacy of my own home.”

He turned down the BBC One offer even though his ITV colleagues Susanna Reid, 47, and Charlotte Hawkins, 43, have both done Strictly.

This year’s line-up includes relative unknowns including comedian Seann Walsh, 32, presenter Stacey Dooley, 31, and YouTube star Joe Sugg, 27.

Piers said: “I don’t really know who half of them are.

“I don’t watch Strictly.

His colleague Charlotte Hawkins took part in Strictly and was partnered up with Brendan Cole

Susanna and Charlotte love it because they were on it.”

Despite the barbs about Z-listers, the first show on Saturday night was watched by 8.5million as fans tuned in to find out the pro-celeb pairings.

Piers is already locked in a bitter ratings war with BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker, 41, and they regularly have Twitter dust-ups.

But he insisted he will not leave the ITV morning show until he beats the Beeb.

And he revealed he has just signed a contract to stay on GMB to the end of 2019.

Piers said: “It’s an extension to an extension, so I must be doing something right.

Piers will also be seen in a new one-off episode of his Serial Killer documentaries on ITV on Thursday at 9pm.
