Police officer gets completely drenched by lads driving through roadside puddle

THIS is the moment an unsuspecting police officer was completely drenched by a group of lads who deliberately drove through a massive puddle.

Video shot from the passenger seat shows the anonymous motorists soak the cop while he walks along the side of a road.

The footage even sees the driver drops his young son on the other side of the road so he can video the incident, before making a U-turn to line up the officer.

A laughing passenger can be heard egging on the driver: “Go on, get him”

Moments before the red Volkswagen hits the water, the hysterical driver sounds the horn in a bid to get the officer’s attention.

Before he can react, the off-guard cop is hit by a wave of water which covers him from head to toe.

The soaked officer is clearly upset and appears to throw his hat on the ground in frustration.

Surprisingly, he doesn’t realise the offender has double backed so he can get another glimpse and pick up his son.

It might seem funny at the time, but Brits who intentionally drive through a puddle face a fine of up to £5,000 if they’re caught by police.

Under section three of the Road Traffic Act 1988, it is an offence to drive “without reasonable consideration for other persons” and according to the Crown Prosecution Service, this includes an instance of “driving through a puddle causing pedestrians to be splashed”.

While it may be highly unlikely that a person guilty of such an offence would be sentenced at the top end of the scale, it is still possible such a harsh penalty could be handed down in extreme cases.

The more common sanction for splashing a pedestrian would likely just be a £100 Fixed Penalty Notice, but could be boosted into the thousands if the offender chooses to take the case to court.

A van driver who was filmed splashing pedestrians was sacked in 2018, after eagle-eyed viewers found out where he worked.
