Another Premier League weekend is very nearly upon us, but there’s a number of big names set to miss out through injury.
Of course, this creates a bit of a headache for all of you fantasy football managers out there, so make sure you get any crocked players out of your Dream Team ahead of the 12.30 kick-off between Southampton and Man United on Saturday.
Anthony Martial & Luke Shaw
The giddy heights of Man United’s opening weekend win over Chelsea have long worn off, with their chastening defeat to Crystal Palace last time out made worse by the injuries to two important first-team regulars.
In form striker Martial – who’s netted twice already this season and bagged 17 points on Dream Team – looks set to be out until the middle of September after picking up a thigh injury.
And it’s the same story for Shaw, who limped out of United’s defeat to Palace before halftime last weekend and could be looking at a month on the sidelines.
Jesus has been in fine form for Man City this season and even started their first game of the campaign at West Ham ahead of Sergio Aguero.
But after picking up a hamstring strain before last week’s victory over Bournemouth, the Brazilian isn’t expected to be available until after the international break.
West Ham’s utility man could be out for up to six weeks with a nasty hamstring strain that has curtailed his promising start to the season.
He pulled up after just six minutes into Tuesday’s Carabao Cup win at Newport, with the team said to be assessing the extent of his knock.
Everton new boy Gbamin featured in their first two Premier League games of the season but then missed the defeat to Aston Villa last Friday after picking up an injury in training.
A reported tendon strain appears to be the problem and could see him spend eight long weeks out of the side.
That’s bad news for him, eh?
Mason Mount & Pedro
Mount’s brilliant start to the season at Chelsea has been justly rewarded with a place in England’s latest squad, so it would certainly be bad news if he missed out on the Blues’ clash with Sheffield United this weekend through injury.
Fortunately it seems he’ll be fit, with manager Frank Lampard claiming he’s confident the young midfielder will be available despite taking a knock to the ankle in their win over Norwich last time out.
Less said about Pedro, the better, with Lamps confirming the Spaniard is not fit.
The hero of Newcastle’s win over Spurs last week faces a late fitness check with a tight groin. Keep your eyes peeled on this one.
Arsenal’s #10 has yet to feature for the side this season due to safety concerns and illness, but after manager Unai Emery confirmed this week that the German will be sticking around at the club this season, there’s every chance he could play some part in the North London Derby on Sunday.
Alli is expected to recover in time from a hamstring injury to play against the Gunners on Sunday.
The midfielder has been out of the side since pre-season after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring problem.
According to Leicester, left-back Ben Chilwell could feature this weekend after missing the last three matches with a hip problem.
