PSG stars face strict regime as boss Thomas Tuchel befriends Paris nightclub owners to snoop on partying players and bans fizzy drinks

THOMAS TUCHEL has befriended Paris’ biggest night club owners, banned sugary drinks and pasta after games to get control of his players.

The strict move comes as part of the German’s new regime at Paris Saint-Germain, where the manager will be informed if players go out partying.

Tuchel, 44, took over from Unai Emery at the Parc des Princes after the end of last season and he is set to inflict a culture of discipline on the squad.

He has visited Cesar, just a stone’s thrown from the Arc de Triomphe, which is a favourite eatery of Kylian Mbappe, Dani Alves and Marquinhos.

Another restaurant is Volver, a small restaurant that is a favourite of the South American players.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager has also banned fizzy drinks and told the players to cut down on pasta after games.

According to France Football, all types of sweets and fizz drinks are also outlawed — and he has given Alves a strict diet to follow while the Brazilian, 35, recovers from a serious knee injury.

Pep Guardiola has also made similar moves at Manchester City, where he has banned pizza and forced players to look after their weight, or face being dropped.

Whereas departed Chelsea boss Antonio Conte allowed his players to have a bottle of beer after games.

Former Manchester United players will be familiar with the idea of night club owners calling their manager with info on party habits.

The move is straight out of the Sir Alex Ferguson textbook on discipline, control and letting the players know who is boss.

Ferguson infamously once turned up at a house party where Ryan Giggs and Lee Sharpe were partying — and booted all the revellers out.

And Rio Ferdinand admitted he had to be reminded of his responsibilities after partying too much in his first couple of years at Old Trafford.
