IF Ayda Williams catches hubby Robbie trying on her high heels backstage, she shouldn’t be surprised.
The new judge has given the idea so much thought he has already decided on his female alter-ego — based on his footballing pal Wayne Rooney, which I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to know.
Wannabe Thomas from Bridgend, South Wales, wowed the judges during his audition at Wembley Arena on Sunday. A show source said: “His stunning rendition of Simply The Best got everyone on their feet.”
He then performed again as drag queen Lady Freida Wylde. After the newcomer’s second performance, Rob told him: “I’d quite like to give drag a go. You’ll have to duet with me.
“My drag name would be Rayne Wooney.”
As a favour to Rob, we have mocked up how he might look in his female guise. It won’t be the first time he has worn a gown. In 2007 Rob put on red lipstick, a black bob wig and low-cut dress in his video with the Pet Shop Boys, She’s Madonna.
Ayda later compared the look to Hollywood actress Anjelica Huston, and admitted on Loose Women she wasn’t impressed by his hairy chest.
Despite initial criticism over Ayda’s lack of music credentials, the show’s first husband and wife team have so far been giving auditions a boost with their hilarious domestic anecdotes as they sit alongside Simon Cowell and newbie Louis Tomlinson on the revamped panel.
And it looks like the couple are already spending their supposed £10million pay cheque after blowing £16million on a new home.
They have splashed the cash on a sprawling seaside estate in Malibu, California, where Janet Jackson previously lived. The five-bed home also has and a two-bedroom guest house.
If The X Factor doesn’t work out, there’s a fly-on- the-wall reality show waiting to happen.
A tumble for Taylor
TAYLOR Swift sang about “lying on the cold, hard ground” in her 2012 hit I Knew You Were Trouble – and it became a reality on Sunday. One of her backing dancers accidentally tripped her during a performance of Call It What You Want at the MetLife Stadium, just outside New York, and Taylor went sprawling.
But ever the professional, she hopped straight back up to continue her performance.
The superstar singer will be back on stage in Massachusetts, US, on Thursday as her Reputation Tour rumbles on. Hopefully she lives up to her name and makes a Swift recovery.
Mel’s family hell
MEL B says being estranged from her family during her ten-year marriage to Stephen Belafonte was “heartbreaking”.
She added: “It was about eight years that I didn’t speak them.”
The Spice Girls singer fell out with her loved ones over their disapproval of her now ex-husband. She reconciled with them last year, before the death of her dad Martin.
Mel was speaking at a preview of the SpiceUp exhibition of costumes and memorabilia, which opens in Islington, North London, on Saturday.
And referring to Victoria Beckham in relation to hopes for a Spice Girls reunion she said: “There’s one that’s been a bit difficult. But I’m hoping she’s going to get roped in. We’re going to start this year.”
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Bandit want fan Madge collab
The chart toppers are making the approach after she said she was a fan of their current single Solo, featuring Demi Lovato.
The Queen of Pop was seen lip-syncing along to the tune in the Instagram video she put out for Gay Pride last month.
Bass and keyboard player Jack Patterson said: “We couldn’t believe that. We’re big fans. We’d love to work with her . . . if she’s reading this.” The band will finally drop their second album in September after a four-year wait since debut New Eyes.
But Jack revealed fans could get a third before the year’s out.
In an exclusive chat ahead of their Big Feastival gig, at Blur bassist Alex James’ farm in Oxfordshire next month, he said: “We’ve written so many songs.
“There are so many mad tracks that aren’t on the album. At the end of the year we’re going to try to put something else together.
“It’s not that they’re not good pieces of music, they’re just not part of this album’s story. There will be 12 or 13 on this one, most are collaborations. People will be surprised – really surprised by who we’ve got.”
If there’s an appearance from Honey G I will be shocked.
R. Kelly has released a 19-minute track entitled I Admit which sees him saying he has no money, owes £15million, that he hasn’t seen his three children for years and that he can’t read or write after dropping out of school.
Abbey to be back
THE Beatles made London’s Abbey Road Studios world famous by recording the bulk of their material there, including the icon album which was named after the complex.
And Sir Paul McCartney was yesterday snapped doing a solo version of the Fab Four’s famous zebra crossing cover, above, as he returned to North West London for a show in front of some of his A-list pals.
Unlike the original Abbey Road image, where he walked in bare feet, Macca sensibly decided to wear sandals – and socks.
He recorded a Spotify session in front of a handful of friends and family. As well as his fashion designer daughter Stella, musicians Stormzy and
Kylie Minogue were in the audience, alongside Pirates Of The Caribbean actors Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.
They were given a glimpse into his first album in five years as he played unreleased tracks from Egypt Station, which is out on September 7.
Last month he premiered the first two songs, I Don’t Know and Come On To Me. But fans don’t have too long to wait before they get to witness him live themselves.
He will embark on his Freshen Up tour of Canada and Europe in September, when his live session is also expected to arrive on streaming service Spotify.
There’s no way Macca is slowing down any time soon.
New music from Cheryl
SHE’s spent the past few months working on music and I can reveal Cheryl has brought in a new team to help her launch it.
The former X Factor judge has signed up with public relations firm DawBell – which also represents big hitters Sir Paul McCartney, Harry Styles and James Corden – after her long-term publicist decided to leave the industry.
I recently told how she had completed work on her forthcoming album alongside Girls Aloud co-star and close pal Nicola Roberts.
She is planning to release it this year.
