Robert Durst, 78, sentenced to LIFE in prison after trial for cold-blooded murder of best friend Susan Berman

NEW YORK real estate heir Robert Durst was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing his best friend more than two decades ago.

A California judge on Thursday handed down the sentence on multimillionaire who was convicted last month of murdering Susan Berman in 2000.

The 78-year-old is in frail health and has been running trying to avoid the law ever since his wife Kathleen McCormack went missing in New York in 1982.
