SHIPWRECKED returned to TV tonight after 7 years away from our screens and viewers couldn’t help but compare the show to Love Island.
It’s not just the skimpy bikinis and six-packs that caused the comparison – there were already some hints of romance on the island.
And while the Sharks and Tigers are battling to become the biggest tribe and win £50,000, it seems some of the islanders are already looking to couple up.
Liv and Chris appeared to kick it off straight away and Holly admitted she’d be up for romance on the island, meanwhile international model Harry described himself as a “single pringle, ready to mingle”.
The group were also invited to host their own boozy island party as the show appeared to veer away from survival and towards titillation.
But viewers were loving the flirtations and took to Twitter to call the show Love Island without the “fakeness”.
Meanwhile, some original fans of the programme were annoyed the show has been “sexed up” for younger audiences.
The show was first broadcast on T4 back in 1999 and some of the show’s original viewers tuned in to see how the new version would compare.
Shipwreck kicked off tonight with a huge row, where one girl threatened to knock out her rival in a fight about whether mermaids exist.
Tensions on the Island are already fiery, as the Tigers and the Sharks battle it out.
The unlikely fight begins when the group play a getting to know you game and Liv reveals that she believes in mermaids, which angers Tula – also known as Big T.
Liv says: “95% of the ocean is still undiscovered so you can’t even say that there’s not.”
To which Big T responds: “That is so dumb!”
But then it gets out of hand, as Liv asks: “Does she want me to knock her out? ‘Cause I will knock you out.”
She then continues to call Big T, a ‘dog’, and says: “Just remember, I was first on this Island, b***h. Remember that.”
Other camp members then try to intervene before it gets too nasty.
Speaking about why she was chosen to star on the show, Liv previously said: “I am from a council estate and I have never done anything like this before.
“I am a very strong person, I know who I am and what I am about. If I want something I will get it.”
