Split-row husband in critical condition after ‘blowing up marital home with gas cylinder’ which also injured his ex-wife

AN ex-husband accused of blowing up his marital home on the day he was due to be evicted was fighting for life yesterday.

Ian Clowes, 66, was seriously ill in hospital after the gas blast.

He and ex-wife Elaine were both in the house at the time. She suffered cuts and bruises.

Neighbours said the divorced couple split the house in Poole, Dorset, into two separate flats.

But she recently won a legal battle to have him kicked out of the upstairs apartment.

One neighbour said: “He was hoping it would remain amicable but she remained awkward, according to him.”

Other locals said ex-house clearance boss Ian was “financially comfortable” thanks to a family inheritance.
