A poll of 10,000 Brits was taken to create the prestigious ranking of the favourite 100 dog breeds in the UK for the TV show, Britain’s Favourite Dogs.

After Staffies reigning supreme are Cockapoos in second place and former number one, the Labrador Retriever in the bronze position.

The ITV show, which had viewers on their seats for a whopping two and a half hours, whittled down the UK’s 217 recognised dog breeds to the top 100, voted for by the public.

Hosts Ben Fogle and Sarah Cox announced the winner, shocking the nation due to the Staffie’s reputation for being an aggressive breed.

Coming in after the Labrador was the Springer Spaniel in fourth, Cocker Spaniel in fifth, Boxer in sixth, Border Collie in seventh, German Shepherd in eighth, Golden Retriever in ninth and ‘Mixed Breed’ (i.e. mongrels) in tenth.
