STRICTLY bosses struggling to land star names have signed up Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin for this year’s series.
The weekend afternoon show host, 34, will be largely unknown to the majority of viewers.
But producers, who are trying to avoid a repeat of the criticism last year’s Z-list line-up received, hope he will bring in a younger audience when the show returns in September. A source said: “It’s a bit of an eyebrow raiser.
“But BBC bosses like going for a youthful radio audience, like they did with Vick Hope.
“No one had really heard of her before Strictly last year and they seemed to warm to her.
“They’re hoping Dev’s personality will make him a household name.”

Dev has featured on the Radio 1 schedule for the past ten years having previously been on sister station 1Xtra since 2002.
Strictly will be his third foray into reality TV in two years.
He appeared on Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins this year, but quit the endurance show after breaking down in tears when he was interrogated during a challenge.
Dev also got to the final of Celebrity Masterchef in 2017, where he was beaten by presenter Angellica Bell, 43.
