TWO suspected IS supporters who were allegedly trying to build a bomb above a fish and chip shop face a retrial.
But the jury failed to reach verdicts and a new trial was ordered.
They were both arrested during early morning raids in December 19 last year, with officers recovering three air rifles, two Samurai swords, a wine bottle full of sulphuric acid, homemade fireworks, and homemade fuses from Star’s property above his Chesterfield chip shop.
Gunpowder and a “viable pyrotechnic fuse” were found at Salah’s home in Sheffield.
Both men denied the charge and Star told the jury how material found in the flat above his Chesterfield chippie was related to his long-standing interest in fireworks. Star, who lives over his shop in Chesterfield, Derbys, and Salah, of Sheffield, remain in custody.
