Unlike other pregnant royals, California-born Meghan might be more affected by this “rule” – especially if she’s planning on jetting across the pond to visit friends and family.

Being from America herself, and having spent a great deal of time in Canada while filming Suits, according to reports this week, Meghan is already planning a trip Stateside.

Two of Meghan’s best friends, stylist Jessica Mulroney (whose three children were bridesmaid and page boys at Meghan and Harry’s wedding) and tennis ace Serena Williams, both live in the States.

Of course, Meghan’s family also live across the pond, with Meghan’s mother Doria currently residing in Los Angeles.

If Meghan and Harry are planning on having children, this tradition could be tricky for the 36-year-old.

According to reports, pregnant royals are encouraged to keep travelling abroad to a minimum – and it’s all to do with safety measures.

While royal women usually conduct engagements up until the end of their pregnancy (they usually don’t have an official “maternity leave” until after the baby is born) they’re encouraged to stay as close to home as possible so emergency help is more readily available.

The Queen is said to prefer it this way. And while Kate did travel to Norway while pregnant with Prince Louis earlier this year – she’s said to have kept other trips to a minimum.

It’s not the only “rule” Meghan may have to follow.

According to royal knowledgeable Victoria Arbiter, throwing AN elaborate baby shower is exceptional for members of The Firm and if Meghan and Harry do attempt to have children, they’ll probably got to provide the new royal a minimum of 3 names.
