Three ways Man Utd’s defence could line up with Harry Maguire on verge of completing £80m transfer

HARRY MAGUIRE is poised to complete an £80million switch from Leicester to Manchester United, as exclusively revealed by SunSport.

The world-record-transfer for a defender sees United add their second English star at the back after Aaron Wan-Bissaka joined from Crystal Palace in a £50m move.

Manchester United could line up like this for their Premier League opener if they have a clean bill of health

United’s defence came under heavy criticism last season as they conceded the second most goals of all the teams in the top half of the Premier League.

And with the two new Englishman on board the question is how will the Red Devils line up for their Prem opener against Chelsea on August 11.

Wan-Bissaka was left out United’s starting lineup for their pre-season opener against Perth Glory but replaced Diego Dalot at half-time and played well in the second-half.

Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Ashley Young made up the remainder of the starting back four in Australia but that is unlikely to reflect their starting back-line now Maguire has signed.

After SunSport broke the news of Maguire’s move, we looked into how the Red Devils might line up with the Englishman on their books.

If United have a clean bill of health come August 11 Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to start both of his new signings alongside Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw.

But Shaw limped out of United’s 2-0 victory against the Glory with a suspected hamstring injury so the Norwegian boss may have to look elsewhere.

Despite the positive Maguire news, United continue to scour the planet in a bid to get more transfers over the line.

Judging by United fans’ reaction on Twitter, Red Devils’ supporters will not be happy if their side start like this against Chelsea
With other options available to him Solskjaer may opt for five at the back against more attacking teams like bitter rivals Manchester City and Liverpool
