Titans film crew member dies after car crash stunt on set of DC Universe superhero show goes wrong

A FILM crew member on the DC Universe superhero show Titans died in a tragic car stunt accident on set on Thursday.

Warren Appleby, a special effects coordinator, suffered fatal injuries after he was struck by flying debris at a studio in Toronto.

The stunt – which involved a car crashing – was being rehearsed when a piece of the vehicle broke off unexpectedly.

Filming has been suspended for two days following the tragedy.

A Warner Bros spokesperson said: “We are heartbroken and devastated by the passing of our treasured colleague, special effects coordinator Warren Appleby, after an accident which occurred at a special effects facility during the preparation and testing for an upcoming shoot.

“Warren is beloved by all who worked with him during an impressive 25-year career in television and motion pictures.

“The executive producers, along with everyone in the ‘Titans’ family, Warner Bros. Television Group and DC Universe wish to express our deepest condolences, and heartfelt love and support, to Warren’s family and friends at this most difficult time.”

The accident happened during filming of the second series of the show.

Titans is produced by Warner Bros Television and launched on the DC Universe streaming service last October.

It stars former Home And Away actor Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Minka Kelly and Alan Ritchson.
