The second plane was diverted to Ottawa Airport after the collision on Sunday and landed safely at around 10:30am local time.

There is no information yet on the number of passengers on the crashed planes or the extent of injuries, the Ottawa Sun reported.

The plane came down in a field near Carp Airport, Ontario, in a residential neighbourhood.

Ottawa Paramedics said the pilot “was pronounced dead at the scene”.

No passengers on the other plane sustained any injuries.
