Less than three hours earlier, a man and woman were stabbed in Grove Park near Bromley, in Kent.
The woman told police she was trying to stop a knife attack in Baring Road shortly after 4.30pm when she was also slashed.
No details have been released about the dead man in Islington, and detectives say they’re carrying out “urgent inquiries” to determine his identity after the attack, close to the Tilloch Street junction.
Two teenage boys were arrested close to the scene and are being questioned at a North London police station.
Officers and medics from the London Ambulance Service found the victim with stab wounds.
Detectives from Central North Command Unit are investigating alongside colleagues from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
A section 60 order is now in place until 3am today, covering postcodes N1, N7, EC1, WC1 and NW1.
The order – under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 – gives police the right to stop and search people in a certain area without suspicion.
