UK snow – ‘Risk to life’ weather warning as towns are cut off by 15cm Arctic blast before six days of freezing rain

A ‘RISK to life’ warning has been issued as Britain is blasted by more heavy snow.

As much as 15cm of snow will fall in parts of the country, cutting off many rural towns and communities as roads become impassable.

Forecasters said motorists who brave the roads are at risk of becoming stranded, while rail and air cancellations are likely.

The weather alert which began at 3am this morning covers Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield, Huddersfield, Harrogate and the surrounding areas.

There is a good chance that some rural communities will become cut off and power cuts are likely with other services, such as mobile phone coverage also affected, the Met Office warned.
