UK weather forecast news LIVE – Brits set for 20C May Bank scorcher but 85mph wind & rain to batter Britain this weekend

The UK faces a washout weekend with torrential downpours and gale force winds – but Brits may see a hot May Bank Holiday weekend.

Temperatures could hit 21C in Kent and the south by June 1 – with the mercury is set to go even higher.

London is shown to be hit with 22C and 23C, according to charts from Netweather.

But before that, weather warnings for wind have been slapped across the entire south of the country today with concerns of flash flooding in some parts.

Some coastal areas likely to be hit with 85mph gusts, the Met Office said.

But forecasters said that there will also be heavy showers across parts of the country, with up to 100mm of rainfall on higher ground.

Met Office spokesman Grahame Madge said that the wet weather will continue over the weekend and while the showers will be broken up by sunny spells it is uncertain how long these will be.
