UK weather forecast news LIVE – Get ready for ROASTING 20C May Bank Holiday HEATWAVE after more wind and rain this week

WARMER days are on the horizon with a long-range forecast from Accuweather predicting a 20C heatwave in June.

Sunnier conditions will make their first appearance on Bank Holiday Monday where temperatures are likely to hit 20C.

It comes after May 2021 was reportedly 2.1C colder than the average of 8.3C at this time of the year – and a meteorologist told the i that it could be the coldest May since 1996.

“It’s been a disappointing May and at the moment there are no particularly strong signs that trend will change in the next week,” Simon Patridge said.

But the damp weather will continue into this week – with today getting off to a wet and windy start.

The Met Office tweeted: “It will be a wet start for some on Tuesday morning, with some patchy rain across Scotland and parts of eastern England and a few showers elsewhere.”
