FLOOD warnings are in place for parts of the country ahead of heavy weekend rain.
Today is going to be a cloudy start on Thursday with outbreaks of rain in the west and that rain is going to shift to the east on Friday.
A Yellow warning is in place for north-east Scotland for Friday, say the forecasters.
The persistent rain may lead to localised flooding along with some disruption to transport.
The warning is in place from 3am on Friday until noon on Saturday.
With mercury already reaching as low as -9C in places, the Met Office predicted that this December may have colder than average temperatures for much of the month.
The North East, Yorkshire and the Humber, the East Midlands, as well as East and South East England are likely to see “severe cold weather conditions”, Public Health England said.
