DEMOCRAT Joe Biden announced Kamala Harris as his running mate this afternoon.
On Tuesday, Biden said he had selected Harris, who he described as “a fearless fighter for the little guy” – but Donald Trump disagreed.
Later that day, Trump said he was “surprised” Biden picked Harris because she’s “told many many stories that weren’t true” and is “into raising taxes.”
Meanwhile, Trump is now trailing behind Biden who has a 10-point lead in a new poll released the same day Harris was announced as his VP.
Following primaries, polling, virtual press conferences and a pandemic, the 2020 presidential election is less than three months away.
Although Democrat Biden has dominated the polls in recent weeks, so did Hillary Clinton in 2016 before Trump swept to victory.
Republicans are hoping their man can pull off another dramatic win, while Democrats are looking to the former VP to make Trump a one-term president and turn Congress blue.
The coronavirus pandemic and Black Lives Matter protests have added to the uncertainty of a political race that sharply divides the country.
We’ll be with you for the next 83 days and beyond, through the daily ups and down, the debates, and the election day itself to see who will walk into the Oval Office in February 2021 as US president.
