PRESIDENT Donald Trump revealed he will announce his Supreme Court nominee this week and is looking to replace the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg before the presidential election.
In an interview with Fox and Friends, Trump said he wants to approve the new justice “quickly.”
He said he is likely to announce his pick on Friday or Saturday or this week.
“We should wait for the services to be over for Justice Ginsburg. So we’re looking at probably Friday or maybe Saturday,” he told host Brian Kilmeade.
The ideal candidate would be “someone who’s not so far left that they’re not part of the AOC-plus-three crowd,” the president said.
Trump described RBG as a “phenomenal figure” and claimed she voted for him during a “very important case,” although he didn’t specify which one.
If the 52-year-old judge is confirmed as Ginsburg’s replacement, she would be the youngest justice on the Supreme Court.
