Venom : the spin-off of Spider-Man will not be a party to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

The fans will still have to wait a few months before they discover Venom, the famous parasite alien, interpreted this time by Tom Hardy. While Sony has sold the rights to Spider-Man to be integrated into the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Entertainment Weekly took the opportunity of an interview with Tom Hardy to make things clear about the status of this spin-off. If you haven’t seen it, here is the first trailer of the film of Ruben Fleischer.

A history independent to that of Spider-Man : Homecoming

We could assume since a lot of time already that Venom does not belong not to the MCU. It is now official. It will be the first new feature film inspired by the comics of Spider-Man, but this story will be well separated from that of Spider-Man : Homecoming, worn by Tom Holland. Entertainment Weekly has said that this film is not part of the deal between Sony and Disney, allowing the Man-spider, join Iron Man, Thor and other Marvel superheroes. We have really the impression that Sony is trying to create its own universe independent, first with Venom, and then with a second spin-off dedicated to Cindy Moon, aka Silk, a classmate of Peter Parker who has the same powers. Not to forget Spider-Man : New Generation, an animated film that will stage for the first time Miles Morales, another Weaver of canvas to the origins of latinos and african. Nevertheless, even if Spider-Man no longer belongs to Sony, there are strong chances that Peter Parker makes a small appearance as announced by Collider last January. For his part, Tom Hardy has explained that he was pleased to interpret a character from comics like Eddie Brock which he finds very interesting, particularly for its tragic history.

In regards to most of the characters Marvel, I have to say that, for me, Venom has the air of being the coolest. It may seem superficial, but I appreciate his side of cheeky. There are some elements of tragic clown that I find funny, and which corresponds to the work that I love to do. There is something funny in the circumstances to have these powers, it is a gift tragic. It is a superpower that you don’t really want to, but at the same time it is something that you love. It makes you feel special. It is both a reluctant hero and an anti-hero.

In his feature film, Ruben Fleischer intends to lean heavily on the violent tendencies of this parasite, treating it in the same way a werewolf and symptoms when one is infected by one of them. You can see below, two new exclusive images from the film. Venom will be released in our cinemas on October 10, 2018.
