Watch Simone Biles nail dangerous vault that no female has EVER landed ahead of Tokyo Olympics leaving fans stunned

LEGENDARY American gymnast Simone Biles has become the first female in history to nail the incredibly dangerous Yurchenko double pike vault.

The move is so risky no female has ever even attempted in official competition but the GOAT Biles executed in almost perfect fashion in training on Friday.

Biles, 24, could become the first woman ever to perform it in competition at the US Classic[/caption]

Biles, 24, has been practicing the out of this world manoeuvre since 2020.

And the world will wait with baited breath to see if she pulls it off again at Saturday’s US Classic.

Biles was filmed achieving the incredible feat in training and footage was shared by former Olympian Nastia Lukin who labelled it ‘insane’.

The Yurchenko is named after Soviet gymnast Natalia Yurchenko and has only been attempted by men until now.

It involves a round-off back handspring approach to the springboard before the athlete hits a double-back flip in the pike position off the vault.

The move requires the athlete to keep their legs dead straight and bend at the hip and they risk serious head or neck injury if they do not achieve the necessary rotation in the air.

And not only did Biles nail it, she also only needed the smallest of steps backward to maintain her balance upon landing.

Biles was delighted and clenched her fist and beamed at her coach Laurent Landi.

Speaking afterwards, Biles said: “I was really nervous chalking up.

“I was like, ‘It’s OK. I’ve done this so many times.’

“I’ve been doing it for months now. So I felt prepared, and I knew I was prepared.

“It was just like the initial landing out there in the arena. But once I did it, I felt a lot better.”

The footage went viral and fans were in awe of the US Olympic medallist.

NBA legend LeBron James tweeted several fire emojis and wrote: “MY GOODNESS.”

Hayley added: Simone is the best.”

African Yoga Girl said: “Simone Biles is once in a generation type of athlete! Damn! The height, the form and the landing every thing was so clean.”

And MidNite joked: “Every time I watch her, my anxiety goes off the chart.”

Biles won gold in the vault at the 2016 Olympics in Rio performing a two-and-a-half Twisting Yurchenko but she has gone one step further ahead of this summer’s Tokyo Games.

Biles uploaded footage of her practicing the daring move in a foam pit in 2020.

And she revealed she was perfecting the move in training back in March.

The gymnastics icon said: “So far, we’ve been training it pretty consistently and there haven’t been too many times where I was like, ‘Oh, that was really scary. Maybe we shouldn’t do that.’

“It’s actually been like, ‘Wow, this is feasible, we can do this.’

“And that’s kind of the scary part, me testing my limits, proving myself wrong, and being like, ‘Dang, Simone you can do this. That’s insane.’

“Honestly, at this age, I feel like I would kind of start going down, but I’m still going up.”
