Wednesday’s each-way betting tips: A longshot to fill your pockets at York from Jack Keene

THE York Ebor Festival bursts into life on Wednesday.

It’s one of the best weeks of the year and I’ve got a strong fancy at double-figure odds to get the meeting off to a flyer.

I’ve got a soft spot for BLAKENEY POINT (4.15 York), and I think he can get his head back in front in the big 2m handicap.

The six-year-old has been a wonderful servant to his connections, winning Listed races and big handicaps under a variety of conditions.

He hasn’t been at his best so far this term, but he has had valid excuses on each outing and he looks ready for the return to this trip.

He has slipped to a very dangerous mark – he was a staying on fifth in the Ebor off 6lb higher last August.

The Roger Charlton yard is flying, ground conditions are fine and he has fared well with the draw in stall two.
