Who have Alfa Romeo replaced in F1?

Alfa Romeo have been a part of the branding for Ferrari since 2015, before becoming the title sponsor from the 2018 season for Sauber.

However, on February 1, 2019, it was announced that the Swiss team would become Alfa Romeo Racing, despite the management and ownership staying the same.

When did they last have an F1 team?

Alfa Romeo have had a team in Formula 1 for nine seasons since its inception in 1950, some under different names.

The car manufacturer took part in the first ever F1 season in 1950, winning six of the seven races, while Juan Manuel Fangio claimed the championship for the constructor the following year.

But their next involvement was under the alias Autodelta in 1979, before changing their name to Marlboro Team Alfa Romeo the next season.

They served under that banner for four years, before changing again, this time to Benetton Team Alfa Romeo for the 1984 and 1985 campaigns.

However, they not had an F1 team since, despite supplying engines to Formula 3 and Indycars in the last 32 years.
