DISNEY+ launched in the UK this week, much to the delight of Disney lovers across the country.
One of the first releases on the new streaming platform is Star Wars: The Mandalorian, a spin-off series of the blockbuster film-franchise.
With no new Star War films planned on being released until at least 2022 this new series should satisfy fans until then.
Who is in the cast?
Set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi and 25 years prior to the events of The Force Awakens, it follows the title character, the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin, and his exploits beyond the reaches of the New Republic.
Disney+ have put together a dazzling array of stars for the series.
Pedro Pascal – (The Mandalorian / Din Djarin)
Pedro Pascal starred in popular Netflix series Narcos[/caption]
Pedro Pascal plays the main character in the series Din Djarin.
Djarin is a lone gunfighter and bounty hunter who is also known as ‘Mando’, who was rescued at a young age by Mandalorians.
Pascal will be most recently known for his role in Narcos where he played the role of Javier Pena, an agent tasked with the mission of taking down drug lord Pablo Escobar.
He has also starred in Games of Thrones and If Beale Street Could Talk.
The Child is referred to as ‘Baby Yoda’, belonging to the same species as the legendary character and possesses the same powers as him.
Although in the series The Child is 50-years-old, he is actually still a toddler.
He becomes the target of bounty hunters when a bounty is placed on his head by ‘The Client’.
Djarin finds and protects him from the bounty hunters in the series.
Gina Carano – (Carasynthia ‘Cara’ Dune)
Gina was a former MMA wrestler before becoming an actress[/caption]
Gina Carano plays Carasynthia ‘Cara’ Dune, a former trooper who fought in the Galactic Civil War for the Rebel Alliance and hails from the now-destroyed planet of Alderaan.
Carano actually began her career as an MMA fighter and became known as the ‘face of women’s MMA’.
Since transitioning to acting she has appeared in roles in popular-franchise Fast and Furious 6 and Deadpool.
Carl Weathers – (Greef Karga)
Carl Weathers played Apollo Creed in the Rocky Franchise[/caption]
Carl Weathers plays Greef Karga an ex-magistrate and leader of a bounty hunter crew who hires the Mandalorian to track a valuable asset.
Weathers has had an illustrious career in acting and played Apollo Creed in the Rocky franchise, he also starred as Al Dillon in Predator.
He also transitioned from a sporting background, starting his career as a football player, but in 1974 he quit football and became an actor.
Emily Swallow – (The Armourer)
Emily Swallow has starred in NCIS and CBS series The Mentalist[/caption]
Emily Swallow plays The Armorer, a Mandalorian woman who imposes her tradition amongst her fellow survivors.
Swallow is an American actress who has appeared in CBS series The Mentalist and in the eleventh series of Supernatural.
She has also had roles in a few of other well known US shows including NCIS and The Good Wife.
Amy Sedaris – (Peli Motto)
Amy Sedaris plays Peli Motto, a docking bay attendant and ship mechanic who finds herself becoming The Child’s guardian when he is left behind.
Sedaris is an American actress, comedian and writer.
She is the creator and star of her own series, At Home with Amy Sedaris on truTV.
Omid Abtahi – (Dr. Pershing)
Omid Abtahi plays Dr. Pershing, a scientist who works for The Client.
The Iranian-American actor started his career in theatre and has since appeared on American television shows such as American Gods on STARZ TV.
Computer game fans will be interested to know he is the voice of characters in popular game series Call Of Duty as Farid in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and as Victor “Gator” Diallo in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
Jake Cannavale – (Toro Calican)
Jake Cannavale plays Toro Calican, an ambitious young bounty hunter with dreams of joining the bounty hunter guild and to do this he enlists the Mandalorian for help.
Cannavale is a musician, theatre and televison actor.
In 2015, he appeared on Broadway in the comedy, Fish In The Dark by Larry David.
Ming-Na Wen – (Fennec Shand)
Ming-Na-Wen plays Fennec Shand, an assassin who crosses paths with the Mandalorian.
She is best known for her role in ABC’s action drama series, Agents of the Shield where she plays Melinda May.
Also, she was the voice of the character in both instalments of the film Mulan and Mulan II.
Natalia Tena – (Xi’an)
Natalia Tena plays Xi’an, a knife master who claims to be the former love interest of Djarin and is a member of Malik’s crew.
Tena has had an illustrious career, appearing in Harry Potter as Tonks and Osha in Games Of Thrones.
She is also the lead singer of the band, Molotov Jukebox, who have released two albums.
Mark Boone Junior – (Ranzar ‘Ran’ Malk)
Mark Junior plays Ran Malk, an old associate of the Mandalorian before his guild days, Malk is now a mercenary who aims to free a prisoner on a New Republic ship.
Boone is no stranger to the big screen with roles in Netflix hit show, Sons Of Anarchy, and in Batman Begins.
His name was initially Mark Heidricht, but he changed his name to Mark Boone – which he chose from a New York City War Memorial.
Giancarlo Esposito – (Moff Gideon)
Giancarlo Esposito plays Moff Gideon, a former officer of the Imperial Security Bureau, the Galactic Empire’s secret police, whose life changed after the Rebel Alliance/New Republic destroyed the second Death Star.
Esposito has had major roles in Neflix hit Breaking Bad, and its spin-off show Better Call Saul, where he played the character Gus.
He won Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Award at the 2012 Critics’ Choice Television Awards and was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards and again at the 2019 edition of the awards.

How can I watch The Mandalorian?
The Mandalorian was released on Tuesday, March 24 for its UK viewers and began with two episodes available to watch on Disney+.
There will be 8 episodes of the first series of the show which will air weekly on a Friday starting from Friday, March 27th 2020.
Disney have wasted no time with the second season and eager fans will be happy to know that it has been commissioned for a October 2020 release.
