Who is the MOST BAD-ASS modern day Navy SEAL?
Let me begin with the type of following…
…ANSWER: this is NO most bad-A.
Because few actual “Heroes” in combat, live to tell the story.
—OK, that said—
When ya hear the following story, told by a retired U.K. Special Ops. Forces member named Darcy Cristaudo;
I think you’ll agree on a MOST BAD-ASS candidate that actually lived to tell his story.
From Darcy Cristaudo:
“My favorite story of a someone in the military is of retired Navy SEAL named Mike Day…”
Mike Day was caught in a brutal firefight with three al-Qaeda insurgents, after he was the first of his team to enter a room in a town near Fallujah, Iraq.”
(During the battle),
“he was SHOT 27 TIMES:
-BOTH of his legs and arms…and (the) abdomen.”
“16 of the bullets missed his armor and penetrated his body leaving him perilously wounded.”
“Suddenly A grenade exploded just 10 feet away from him, knocking him unconscious.”
“According to Mike Day, when he woke up roughly a minute later, he managed to KILL two of the fighters with his pistol.”
“When the firefight turned down…Mike Day got up and walked himself to a medical helicopter.”
When later interviewed Mike Day said:
“I was shot in both legs, both arms, my left thumb was almost amputated.
I was shot in the abdomen and had a colostomy bag for a year
-my right scapula was shattered
-I was shot twice in the buttocks
-(shot) once in the SCROTUM.”
(Yeah, a bullet struck his big-BALLs)
Mike Day interview continued:
“My body armor was hit multiple times which caused fractured ribs and contusions on my lungs.”
From Darcy Cristaudo:
“He spent just 16 days in hospital – during which time, he lost just under 58-lbs. – before he was discharged.
He was later awarded the Purple Heart.”
– Darcy Cristaudo
I’d say being shot 27 times absolutely makes SEAL Mike Day is a solid candidate for “MOST BAD-ASS”.
Could there be another SEAL candidate for the #1 spot?
Another US Vet, that goes by the nickname “ Wolfman Jak”, had a solid response.
Only this time,
the SEAL did NOT live to tell the story.
From “ Wolfman Jak”:
“I would go with Navy Seal Adam Brown.
He was fearless AND…”
“…He overcame his crack addiction to join the Seals, at a lot older age than most go through BUD/S.”
“He lost his dominant eye on a training exercise but that didn’t stop him…”
“(Adam Brown) crushed his hand in combat, in a hummer crash – that didn’t stop him.
He learnt to shoot with his none dominant hand.”
This is what SEAL Adam Brown did while deployed to Afghanistan…
“Chased a burglar down the street, NAKED; having just jumped out the bath.”
“Exposed himself to enemy fire to protect his comrades, whilst on a mission to capture one of the most wanted in Afghanistan.”
“He eventually died of his wounds.
SEAL Adam Brown was a loving husband and devoted father.
I never knew him but he’s my hero.”
– Wolfman Jak
So there ya have it.
2 brave Navy SEALs…point being,
There is no such thing as,
Every human wearing the SEAL Trident is simply,
A true Bad-Ass.
Darcy Cristaudo didn’t specify whether U.K. or Aussie/NZ/Canadian b/c these guys don’t give out that info.
