GEORGE GROVES and Callum Smith put it all on the line in the World Boxing Super Series final.
The super-middleweight clash in Jeddah saw Groves put his WBA belt on the line as the fighters slugged it out for a chance to lift the Muhammad Ali trophy.
Who won George Groves vs Callum Smith?
CALLUM SMITH recorded a stunning knockout victory as he overwhelmed George Groves in round seven.
After a slow, tactical start to the fight, Mundo’s superior range started to show as Groves struggled to land anything meaningful.
The champ was getting noticeably frustrated and twice put Smith on the canvas with trips as he tried to work his way into the fight.
But Smith had him rocked a number of times before the knockout frenzy that erupted in the seventh.
The Liverpudlian landed clean with a brilliant left-hook, before a barrage of punches put Groves on the floor in his corner from which he couldn’t recover.
A delighted Smith said: “It’s been a long time coming. I’m a big believer in my own ability and I always knew I was good enough to be a world champion.
“It was a good fight. I’ll have to watch it back but I felt I was ahead at the end of the stoppage and always had the power to stop him.
“We knew Groves could sit and wait all night. But I knew I could do it myself and it was a bit of chess-match. I just got that big shot off first.
“I’d like to wish George good luck whether he carries on or not.”
