LIGHTWEIGHT champ Khabib Nurmagomedov puts his unbeaten record on the line against Conor McGregor.
There’s no warm-up fight for The Notorious, who ends a two-year hiatus from the Octagon with a huge world title showdown in Las Vegas.
Why was Conor McGregor stripped of his belt?
MCGREGOR won the lightweight title with a TKO victory over Eddie Alvarez in November 2016.
It made ‘The Notorious’ a two-weight world champion and was the crowning glory of his MMA career to date.
Since then the Irishman has fought boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr and hasn’t been seen in the Octagon, resulting in him losing the lightweight belt in April this year.
UFC president Dana White confirmed that due to inactivity McGregor was to vacate the title on April 7.
He is the first athlete ever to hold two UFC titles simultaneously and comes back to try regain his title against Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov.
What titles are on the line tonight?
MCGREGOR faces Nurmagomedov, who won the vacant lightweight title against Al Iaquinta in April.
The Russian is unbeaten in his MMA career and has a glittering record of 26-0 – and that world title is up for grabs in Vegas.
Tune into BT Sport from 11pm TONIGHT, with this bout expected around 4am UK time.
