Woman, 35, is stabbed in brutal attack as she takes her bins out in a popular tourist town

A woman was stabbed repeatedly as she took her bins out at her home in a popular Queensland tourist town.

The woman, 35, was allegedly wheeling rubbish bins outside of her home in Pimlico, Townsville, at around 9.20pm, on Wednesday evening.

A man with a knife then attacked her outside her Latchford Street home, leaving her with multiple, extensive stab wounds to her chest and arms.

She was taken to Townsville Base Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

Shortly after the attack, Police arrested a man, 40, from the nearby Vincent suburb, in a local park.

He has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates’ Court on Thursday afternoon.

Police have alleged the man and woman did not know each other and that the attack appears to be random.

Anyone with information on the incident has been urged to contact Queensland Police.
