Woman’s body found in Greenwich park near community centre as man arrested on suspicion of murder 

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman was found in a park in south-east London on Saturday.  

The victim, said to be in her 20s, was found near a community centre on Cator Park,  in Greenwich. 

The Metropolitan Police said officers had been called to the scene on Kidbrooke Park Road at around 5.30pm. 

The force said they believe they know the identity of the woman but are awaiting formal identification and confirmation that her family have been informed.   

Forensic officers in white protective gear were seen working the scene late last night.

The Met said a post-mortem examination will be ‘arranged in due course.’  

Met Police Greenwich tweeted: ‘A man was arrested around 21:20hrs at an address in Lewisham on suspicion of murder and is now in custody at a south London police station.

‘A number of crime scenes are in place and enquiries are ongoing.’
