Woolwich murder probe as OAP found dead at home next to man in his 70s who had been stabbed

A MURDER investigation has been launched after a 72-year-old female pensioner was found dead at her home next to a man in his 70s suffering stab wounds.

Scotland Yard today named her as Shuren Ma from Woolwich, who died from head injuries on a residential street in the morning of Sunday, July 1.

A man who was also in his early 70s was taken to an East London hospital with stab injuries, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police and paramedics descended on the property on Elmdene Road in Woolwich at around 6.40am in the morning but were unable to rescue the woman, who was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Metropolitan Police said the injured man – who was present at the address when the woman died – will be questioned “in due course”.

No arrests have been made so far and enquiries continue.

At this stage, officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
